iW Watch of the Day - 06.25.10
Spyker Collection
For those who like super fast cars and super sleek watches, the Dutch über luxury automobile manufacturer Spyker has launched an in-house watch collection inspired by their cars. The watch successfully emulates the car brand without looking gimmicky. Every little detail on the watch is a reflection of the exceptional machines that inspired it. The chronograph buttons on the side of the watch resemble Spyker exhaust pipes; cuts on the ardillon buckle mimic vents on the hood of the Spyker C8 Aileron Spyder. Even the indices are raised to look like the switches on a Spyker racer. The automatic mechanical movement is housed in a 44 mm titanium case with a transparent back that exposes the timepiece’s spoke-like rotor. An orange, hand-stitched leather strap celebrates the brands Dutch heritage. The price of a Spyker watch will range anywhere from $9,500 to $29,000, and to own the car itself will set you back at least $250,000.
