I am considering buying a Glashutte watch and would like to know more about their reputation and positioning with respect to other luxury watches makers. Also, how do you compare to A Lange Sohne? Thanks. Rgds.
Glashutte is a German watchmaking company founded in 1994. A conflomerate was formed in 1951 from the watch companies based in Glashutte. This included A. Lange and Sohne who were founded in 1845, explaing the relationship between Glashutte and A. Lange and Sohne watches. Interestingly enough, the A. Lange and Sohne factory was bombed on the last day of World War II and the company was out of production for a while.
Glashutte and A. Lange & Sohne are two of the few watch companies that use their own movement. They are extremely high quality timepieces and absolutely gorgeous. The attention to detail with their watches is pheonomenal. When deciding between one or the other, I would say that it is personal preference.
