How does one go about trying to find a job in the watchmaking industry?
iW founder and editor in chief, Gary Girdvainis offers the following suggestions:
There are various aspects and job descriptions within the industry. You may want to
consider these opportunities:
* Sales - either over the counter retail or working for a distributor as an area/brand sale person. Good money can be made with the right brand as a traveling rep but lots of travel.
* Marketing & PR - writing press releases, organizing events, publicity, and all aspects of marketing are covered by these types of jobs.
* Watchmaker - two years (minimum) of training for a future job that is well guaranteed. Watchmakers are in demand and with more training and experience master watchmakers working on complex watches can expect to earn six figures within a reasonable time-frame.
